James W. Sylvester, age 80, husband of the late Cynthia L. (Toombs) Sylvester, who preceded him in 1978, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Born in Oaks, PA, he was a son of the late Ralph D. and Dorothy S. (Mealley) Sylvester.

Mr. Sylvester served in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from Haverford High School Haverford, PA and attended the General Motors Institute in Flint, MI. He spent his golden years living in Jupiter, FL surrounded by family & friends whom he truly loved and cherished, attended car shows and special events at the American Legion.

Mr. Sylvester is survived by two children, Linda Sylvester Saylor of Pottstown, PA and Mark, husband of Diane Sylvester of Prescott Valley, AZ; six grandchildren, Alyssa, Jenna and Olivia Saylor and Brian, Kelly and Matt Sylvester; six nieces and nephews, Wende Sylvester, Susan Hutchison, David Sylvester, Ben Ross, Jim Ross, and Colleen Hicks. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Ret. Gen. George H. Sylvester, U.S. Air Force, husband of Elaine Sylvester of Palm Beach Shores, FL and Ann Sylvester Ross, wife of the late Ret. Gen. Collier Ross, U.S. Army.

A memorial service will take place at the Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 1078 Egypt Road, Oaks, PA 19456 on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. David A. Leiter. Burial will take place privately in the Green Tree Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Marfan Foundation, 22 Manhasset Avenue, Port Washington, NY 11050 .
