James Wayne Highlands, Sr., age 73, of Limerick, PA, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on March 3, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA he was a devoted and loving partner and father.

While having been born in Philadelphia, he grew up in Gilbertsville, PA. After completing Bachelor's degrees in Metallurgical Engineering and Business he went on to complete his Master's Degree in Business Management and spent his life self-employed as an engineering consultant traveling the world. He was an active volunteer with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and was proud of his contributions in creating ISO 9001, a globally recognized standard for quality management.

While he enjoyed summers on his boat at the NJ shore, he valued his close-knit family more than anything. He respected integrity and honesty above all else and worked hard to instill that in his children. His commitment to his family always made them feel safe while also encouraging them to find their own voices and independence.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James J. and Marie (Pfender) Highlands and his wife of 33 years, Diane (Hetrick) Highlands. He is survived by his partner of 21 years, Sherri Tunis; his three children Jennifer Austin (Tom Maher) of Devon, PA, James W. Highlands Jr. of Nederland, CO and Justin Highlands (Melissa) of Glenolden, PA along with eight grandchildren he adored.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Jim's life at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St, Royersford, PA on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.
