Dr. Jane M. Lock, age 75, wife of the late Kenneth J. Lock Sr. and longtime companion of the late Ross R. Jelinek, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at home surrounded by family. Born June 21, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Jane (Sanger) Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Kayte Lock, and son, Ken Lock, and granddaughters Madelyn, Eleanor, and Colette. She also leaves behind two sisters, Nancy, wife of Joe O'Neill and Diana, wife of Russell Mitchell, along with several nieces and nephews and extended members of the Jelinek family.

Jane was raised in the 1950's with unconditional love from her mom, Jane, and with the conventional wisdom of her father, Edward. But it was her grandmother that ignited an innate curiosity in the unconventional, or as she would call it "the woo woo". Jane would tell the story of the time her grandmother took her to the Theosophical society of Cleveland at a young age; it was an experience that would go on to shape every fiber of who she was and what she stood for.
Jane was a graduate of Upper Merion High School. She completed her undergraduate studies at Beaver College in 1969 with a major in English. She lived abroad in London, travelling to Paris and throughout Europe, before returning home to Wayne, PA. Once home she met her husband, Kenneth J. Lock, who she would go on to marry and begin a family with. Kenneth pre-deceased Jane leaving her widowed in her late thirties and having to face life as a single mother with two young children. Where she lacked in resources and support, she invested heavily in love and support for Kayte and Ken. She embodied strength and determination, which in 1989 fueled Jane to enroll at Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic, adding Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) to her resume alongside her proudest title of Mom. These were formidable years of life as a single Mom while going back to school to get a doctorate whereby resilience became her superpower.

After graduating as a D.C. in 1991, she opened her own practice, Lock Chiropractic & Natural Healing Center, in Royersford. It was there she served her patients and community for over 20 years before relocating the practice to Collegeville until she retired in 2018. She was a true healer, helping patients young and old live a full and healthy life and become the best version of themselves. Dr. Lock believed in the energetic life force each person possesses and used muscle testing and neuro emotional technique as a conduit to helping her patients find structural, emotional, and nutritional balance and overall well-being. If you ever mentioned an ailment, an ache or pain around Jane, she was quick to offer her support and help for how she could make a positive difference for that person.

She had a deep sense of spirituality, accepting everyone not for what they could do or give, but merely for who they were. She had a gift of loving everyone, providing a haven of support and encouragement, and always offering the people she encountered a sense of belonging. She always had a smile on her face. She taught her kids to be curious and kind to others and seek wonder where there were differences. But above all, be open to learning and have acceptance for others who look different, who come from different walks of life, have different spiritual or religious beliefs and cultures.

Jane was a talented artist who dabbled with many different mediums throughout the years but most often enjoyed acrylic painting. She was an avid reader, lifelong learner, and steadfast activist for living a life full of gratitude. She had an adventurous side and loved traveling, evidenced by her semester abroad spent in London and her annual trips with friends to Montana for continuing education and mastery of Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) for her practice.

Above all, Jane loved spending time with her family. Besides being the best Mom ever, she was a trusted Doctor, an artist, a dear friend to so many, a big sister, daughter, beloved Aunt and Grandmother, or Geema, as her granddaughters affectionately called her.

She was a courageous, loving, joyful, bright, brilliant, caring woman who will be profoundly missed and remembered by many. Her family and friends will remember her for the joyous impact and encouragement she always gave to each person she encountered. She went out of her way to always remind those around her that "each one of you is precious and valuable."

May we all be able to take life lessons from her unfaltering selfless, kind, and courageous example. Even in her final days, she made sure to have Christmas ready for her kids and grandchildren. She was thoughtful and always worried about others, literally until her last breath.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, Pennsylvania on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Friends will be received from 10:30 am - 11:30 am Saturday morning at the funeral home with a service to follow at 11:30 am.
