Mrs. Janet G. (Harlow) Humphrey, age 71, wife of J. Steve Humphrey, of Schuylkill Township, PA died late Tuesday evening in her home. Born in Halifax, NC, she was a daughter of the late Jim N. and Elsie L. (Sparks) Harlow. She graduated from the Indiana University in Bloomington, IN with a bachelor's degree in music education. Her love of music encompassed her life. She was a well known music teacher. Mrs. Humphrey registered the fictitious name of SongLady in Pennsylvania in 1988 to encompass her breadth of creative activities involving performance, publishing, recording and instructional materials using the business title of SongLady Music. One of her objectives is "Musical Creations for Children and Families" wherein music is promoted as a language for effective and joyful communication and as a way to nurture the creative instinct in children
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Humphrey is survived by one son; Dana S. Humphrey, of Virginia, one daughter; Mimi L, wife of John Martz, of Middletown, PA, two sisters; Merle (John) Rogalski, of Florida, Louise Hessenflow, of North Carolina, one brother; James Harlow, of North Carolina, one granddaughter; Megan Martz, and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11:30 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Peter J. Young. Burial will be held privately in West Virginia. Friends will be received from 10:30 - 11:30 AM Saturday morning at the funeral home.
