Jay Clymer,

Jay P. Clymer, Jr., 84, died May 16, at the Laurels Skilled Nursing Unit in Peckville, PA, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He and his wife, the former Jeanette Armold, had celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.? Born in Fleetwood, PA, he was the son of Jay and Naomi Clymer.? He graduated from McCaskey High School in Lancaster, PA.? As a participant in the Naval Officer Training Program, he attended the University of North Carolina, Tufts University, Cornell University, and Penn State University, where he graduated with a B.S. in mechanical engineering.? He was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy and served on active duty during World War II.? He was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant.? For 38 years, he was employed by Bell Telephone Company of PA, where he eventually rose to the level of Regional Supervisor.? He was an active member and Deacon of the Calvary Fellowship Church, Wayne, PA.? He was devoted to God and his religion.? He was an active member of the American Legion, PA Bell retirees, and the Delco Sportsman's Club.? He loved the outdoors, especially bird hunting and all types of fishing.? He spent many happy hours afield in the company of his son and friends.? He was an accomplished athlete, setting records in track and field, playing football for Tuft's University, and wrestling for Penn State.? A beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he will be dearly missed by all who touched his world.? He enjoyed life, and the people in it.? He was a most generous man, who used his money to help other people, and his charities.? The family extends it thanks to Dr. Randall Brundage, and the Staff at the Laurels Nursing Home for several years of good care. ? In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Julia Ericson and husband Steve, Jennifer Clymer, and his son, Jay P. Clymer, III and wife Elizabeth, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.? He has a sister Gwen Niemi, who resides in Arizona.? We all honor his life, and his contribution to ours.? Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Calvary Fellowship Church, 501 E. Swedesford Road, Wayne, PA 19087, on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at 11 AM.? Officiating will be the Rev. Eric Hall.? Interment will be held privately.? Friends may call from 5-7 PM Monday evening at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA.?
