Jay Wilson Haas Jr, age 50, loving husband of Gina (Sciarra) Haas passed away peacefully at his home in Collegeville, PA on Saturday, February 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 30, 1970 in Lancaster, PA, he was the only son of Jay Sr. and Joan Haas.

Jay was a graduate of Bentley University. He obtained his Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional (CRCP) certification and worked in the finance industry as a regulatory professional, most recently with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) and previously as a consultant with Cipperman Compliance Services. He was a respected colleague throughout his career and served as a mentor for new colleagues. His gentle, even-keeled nature and sense of humor were instrumental in his working relationships with executives, traders, and compliance personnel.

Jay was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church of Phoenixville where he served as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the church’s finance committee. He also played bells in church’s bell choir.

A lifetime aficionado of music, Jay was an avid concertgoer and fan of bands including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, R.E.M., and other mainstays of the 1980/90’s. His musical passion was self-fulfilling, as he played the trumpet in his youth and learned to play bass guitar in his 40s, taking lessons with his daughter, Juliana.

Jay enjoyed running, skiing, golfing, and hiking whenever he had the opportunity. He completed the Broad Street Run several times as well as half marathons, mud-runs, and countless 5K and 10K races. Jay encouraged and supported his daughter, Sophia, in participation on the cross-country team throughout her high school career. He played on many recreational softball teams and volunteered as a coach for his daughters’ teams.

Family was at the core of Jay’s life. Jay was never more at home and content than when he was with his wife, daughters, extended family, and friends, enjoying a cold beer at an outdoor barbecue, gathering for birthdays and holidays, discussing music and current events, and was the always resolute presence during difficult times. He enjoyed summer vacations to South Carolina and Avalon, NJ with his immediate and extended family and reveled in this down time with family outside of the office. True to his musical nature, Jay was known to conjure an insightful jingle for any adventure or excursion. He chronicled the family’s experiences with his keen memory and was the go-to source of who did what to whom and why during vacations past.

Jay never shied from adversity and never asked anyone to help shoulder his burden. He was always ready to help with a home improvement or financial project, no matter how complex or labor intensive and was able to find a moment for laughter in challenging times. Even during his final days, he was solicitous about his family and his visitors, injecting humor in an impossible situation, and ensuring that he was, as ever, living life on his terms. The appreciation and memories of Jay and the life he shared will only grow exponentially as time passes.

In addition to his loving wife and parents, Jay is survived by his loving daughters, Sophia and Juliana; two sisters, Brenda Frymyer, and Barbara Samett; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday evening March 4, 2021 from 6PM to 8PM at the Campbell Ennis Klotzbach Funeral Home, 610 S. Main St. Phoenixville, PA 19460.
