Jean Elizabeth (Eagle) Mansur, wife of George E. Mansur, peacefully left this world in her sleep on Monday, April 6, 2009 at her home in Phoenixville, PA after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. She was 79.

Born in Phoenixville, she was the daughter of the late Margaret D. and Thomas L. Eagle.

She was a 1947 graduate of Phoenixville High School and a graduate of Moore College of Art in 1951. She married her husband in 1951 during the semester break of her senior year at Moore and they recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.

She was a talented artist and textile designer. After graduation from Moore, she was a designer for fabric firms in Philadelphia and after moving to Buffalo, continued to be active in the Philadelphia and New York market through her agent.

Jean was a beautiful person who created beauty in the things she touched wherever she lived or traveled, whether in Buffalo, NY, Ardmore, Wyomissing Hills, Highland Park, IL, Monkton, MD, Phoenixville or the world. She created original Scherenschnitts, original craft boxes and other works of art throughout her life. An accomplished knitter and teacher, she also earned a master Gardener designation while a member of the Lutherville (MD) Garden Club where she was a Director and Officer.

Since returning to Phoenixville, she has been a volunteer and a Director of the Historical Society of the Phoenixville Area and an active working member of the Kiwanis Club of Phoenixville where she was a Distinguished Kiwanian and a Delegate to International Kiwanis Conventions.

She also has been an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she has served in various capacities and whose members have been an unbelievable support in her last years.

Jean, as a person, radiated beauty and grace throughout her life, but her family will treasure her greatest legacy-that of an unbelievably compassionate and nurturing mother, beloved grandmother and role model for all.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Jennifer Mansur Sertel of Istanbul, Turkey, Beth Anne Mansur, wife of Richard Heckler of Lawrence, KS, Charlotte Mansur, wife of Eric Connors of Bradenton, FL, Melissa Mansur Cada and husband Mark of Phoenixville; Eight grandchildren, Tevfik Mansur Sertel of Istanbul, Turkey, Rose Heckler Gaynor of Kansas City, KS, Taj and Clarate Heckler of Lawrence, KS, Noah and Ben Connors of Bradenton, FL and Drew and Emma Cada of Phoenixville; Two sisters, Charlotte Keenan of Frederick and Margaret Trunk of Elverson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Eagle and Thomas Eagle, Jr. and a sister, Mary Alice Eitelman.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at St. John's Lutheran Church, St. Johns Circle, Phoenixville. Following the service will be visitation and a Retrospective of some of her work of this life. Luncheon will also be served.
