Jean Marie Ellsmore Taylor
May 29, 1934 - December 8, 2017

Born and raised in Glen Campbell, PA, Jean graduated from Punxatawny High School and was recruited to play in a professional women’s baseball league. Choosing instead a career in medicine, she came east to Philadelphia to earn X-ray Technology Certification. In 1957 she joined the X-ray department of Phoenixville Hospital as an Intern and remained there for 42 years, rising to the position of Director of Diagnostic Imaging. During those years, she earned further certifications in her field and completed the Associate in Business Administration Degree at Ursinus College. In 1999, she retired as a highly regarded member of the hospital staff and of the larger community, having served multiple Phoenixville organizations and boards during her hospital years.

A member and elder of First Presbyterian Church, Phoenixville, and later of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, she was a devoted choir member, supporter and friend.

Jean leaves behind a brother, The Rev. James Ellsmore and a sister, Carol Ann Ellsmore, both of Indiana PA, and dear nieces and nephews Lisa Hall, Jim Ellsmore, Rick Ellsmore, and Amy West and their families. She will be missed by longtime friend and companion Jan Lawrence Lange and a large adopted Lange family, Carolyn Lange, Richard Pettit, Jon and Danielle Lange, Andrew and Helen Lange, David and Annemarie Lange and their eleven children including her Godson, Simon.

A memorial service will be held on January 5, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the SPCA or the Humane Society, or to a charity of your choice. Please do not send flowers.
