Obituary

Jeanne M. Oglesby, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Unity Hospital in Greece, NY. She was born on October 12, 1927 to Esther (Weiland) Miller and Paul Miller in Phoenixville, PA.

After graduating Ursinus College with a BA in Business Administration in 1949, she pursued a career in accounting, rising to the position of Supervisor of Cost Accounting at the Curtis Publishing Company in Philadelphia. On February 20, 1960, Jeanne married H. Ford Oglesby with whom she raised two children.

She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she held vital positions of leadership over the years, including treasurer. Additionally, Jeanne was an active member of Covered Bridge Garden Club, the Historical Society of Phoenixville, and the Afternoon Music Club. In her leisure time she loved gardening, flower arranging, traveling and attending local theater with Ford. Jeanne greeted the world with kindness, goodness, positivity and an unwavering Christian faith.

She is survived by her children, Alice Read and Paul Oglesby; her stepson Barry Oglesby, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Phoenixville, PA; visitation starting at 9 a.m. Jeanne has requested that donations be made to St. John’s Church Memorial Wreath or Philabundance, 3616 S. Galloway St, Philadelphia, PA 19148, philabundance.org.
