Obituary

Johan "John" Vullings, age 99, husband of the late Petronella "Nellie" Vullings, of Trooper, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2022 peacefuly at home surrounded by his family. Born on August 8, 1923 in Ottersum, Netherlands, he was one of nine children born to the late Christina (Bless) and Franciscus Vullings.

Prior to immigrating to the United States, John worked in the coal mines in Holland. On Christmas eve in 1959, he settled with his family in Trooper, PA, where he lived for 61 years before moving to Limerick. Upon settling in Trooper, John was employed as a welder and then as a foreman at Plymouth Tank, in Eagleville PA until his retirement in 1992.

John was a self taught handy man, he learned how to fix everything and was no stranger to furniture refinishing. He fulfilled all requests from his children and grandchildren from painting to building whatever they needed or dreamt up. He worked on projects both at home and on the road when visiting his family. John was an avid gardener and loved to bake and cook. He was most well known for his delicious chocolate chip cookies, potato salad, roast beef dinners and croquettes.

John was dedicated to his family. He and his wife often traveled back to Holland to visit family and then explored other landmark throughout Europe. Very important to John was spending time with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Equally important to John was his Catholic faith.

John is survived by his daughters, Maria (Jerry) Stieber, of Phoenixville, PA, Wilma (Bill) Greening, of Tampa, FL and Anita (Steve) Burry, of Collegeville, PA; five grandchildren: Renee (Eric) Bruno, Brian (Jenna) Stieber, Lindsay Greening, William (Sarah) Greening and Sarah Burry; and five great-grandchildren, Alex, Penny, Bryce, Finn, Maggie. He was preceded in death by an infant great-grandson, Matthew, in 2012.
