John Dick Corbin, age 79, husband of Elizabeth S. (Shenkle) Corbin, of Phoenixville, PA, died Tuesday morning, January 6, 2008 in the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Pottstown, PA. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late J. Ross and Marian (Fleck) Corbin. He served in the US Marines stationed at Pearl Harbor. Mr. Corbin worked for the West Company in Phoenixville and was a manager at the time of his retirement. Prior to that, he owned and operated the Corbin Body Shop in Phoenixville for twenty years. Mr. Corbin was active in the Phoenixville community, he was a member of First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club and the Power Squadron, Mainline Chapter.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, Mr. Corbin is survived by two daughters, Cathleen Young and husband Frank of Wayne, PA, Deborah Levine, of Hawaii, one step-daughter, Jane Murray, of Exton, PA, a step-son; Thomas Murray and wife Kathy of Worcester, MA, two grandchildren; Carrie Heverly and husband Rick, and James Neskie; two step-grandchildren: Michael Murray and wife Charlene, and Andrew Murray and four great-grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 865 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Friday at 10:30 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Amy C. Smith. Visitation time will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Burial will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the church.
