John "Jack" H. Ebling passed away peacefully Saturday May 31, 2025 at St Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. Born in Reading, he was the son of Benjamin F. Ebling and Dorothy (Moyer) Ebling. John was a 1955 graduate of Muhlenberg HS, Temple. After high school he worked various jobs before deciding to serve his country by joining the Air Force, enlisting in 1958. His Air Force training as a radio maintenance specialist led him to further pursue his education by attending night school at Lowell Technological Institute in Lowell, MA, earning his Associate Engineering degree in 1969. He continued his working career at Sanders Associates, Nashua NH; Western Electric, Allentown PA; Buckeye Pipeline Co, Macungie PA; and Merrill Creek Reservoir in Harmony Township, NJ.

As a young man, John enjoyed hunting and fishing, developing a joy of the outdoors that he passed on to his sons through numerous family camping trips, He also actively supported the local Boy Scouts Troop. These experiences created lifelong happy family memories and a continued love and appreciation for the outdoors. During the 1970's John was a member of the Kutztown Young Athletic Association, coaching little league baseball teams and helping to run the organization. He mentored not only his sons, but many other Kutztown youth, whose lives he touched. He continued to support local charities and young people, namely the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown, where he was recognized as an Unsung Hero by the Lehigh County Office of Aging in 2023. He also volunteered at the Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley, an organization that provides sports and activities year-round for children and young adults with special needs.

John had many phases to his long life, learning and growing as he moved through the years and always strived to be the best person he could be while loving and caring for those around him. He will be deeply missed by all the people he touched through the events and associations that he contributed to. Wednesday night family dinners will never be the same.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Reed-Ebling, Macungie; sons, Jeffrey A. Ebling, husband of Molly, Kutztown; Jerald B. Ebling, husband of Amy, Delaware; Jonathan C. Ebling, husband of Jeanette, Kutztown, Michael J. Ebling, Easton; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother Donald Ebling, Reading and sister Louise (Ebling), wife of William Travaglini, Tennessee; in addition to the entire Reed family, who he embraced as his own. He was preceded by a brother, Benjamin Ebling Jr and sister Barbara Miuccio, along with his beloved dog of 14 years, Nala.

A Graveside Service will be held June 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Fernwood Cemetery, Royersford, PA.
