John E. "Jack" Fries, 101, of Royersford
John E. "Jack" Fries, 101, widower of Gladys (Essick) Fries, went to be with his Lord on Friday evening October 16, 2015 at Parkhouse. Born on August 22, 1914, in Warwick Twp., he was a son of the late Harry L. and Lidie (McFarland) Fries.
Jack was two years old when his father died. He and his five brothers were raised by a loving Christian mother. There began his love of Coventryville United Methodist Church. He was a member of United Methodist Men, helping with activities at the church. Jack wrote poetry, many poems about his church.
After the death of his wife, Jack shared a special companionship with Grace Wampler, for 25 years. He also attended Coventry Church of the Brethren with her.
Jack was famous for his "I LOVE YOU" cards which he passed out to everyone. We will continue to pass on his love.
He was retired from Bethlehem Steel.
He is survived by daughters, Shirley (James) Sandoski, of De Funiak Springs, FL, Leslie (David) Brennan, of Reading, son, Michael, of Royersford, daughter-in-law, Dawn Fries, of East Coventry, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, special friend, Patti Ciatto, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Harry, George, Horace and Earl, son, Roger Fries, and grandson, Gary Fries.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at 11 am at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA. Officiating will be Pastor Will Humes. Interment will follow in the Coventryville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Coventryville United Methodist Church, 1521 Old Ridge Road, Pottstown, PA 19465.
