John F. Garbarino, Jr., age 86, husband of the late Sumiko M. Garbarino, of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Tuesday March 29, 2011 at home. Born in Mt. Holly, NJ, he was a son of the late John F., Sr. and Eva V. (Rossell) Garbarino.
Mr. Garbarino was a lifelong resident of Phoenixville. He spent over 45 years in government service, serving in the Army during World War II, where he received the World War II Victory Medal. He served a tour in Germany, and two tours in Japan, where he met his wife Sumiko. He also worked at the Valley Forge Army Hospital and the Coatesville VA Medical Center for over twenty years. He retired from the Army at a rank of Master Sergeant. Mr. Garbarino enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Garbarino is survived by one daughter, Gina Marie, wife of Allen Crites, of Sunrise, FL; one son, James R., husband of Kate (Sullivan) Garbarino, of Limerick, PA; three grandchildren, Nichole Leigh, wife of Isaiah Woon, Eric Allen, husband of Sashika Crites, and Allison Garbarino-Shanks; and one great-granddaughter Alysha Brianna Crites. He was predeceased by one son, Teddy Garbarino; and one brother, James Garbarino.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at the Washington Memorial Chapel, Route 23 in Valley Forge, PA 19481 on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Roy Almquist. Arrangements are being handled by the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
