John I. Houck, 60, of Royersford, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, in the Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, Philadelphia. Born in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Henry H. and Betty M. (Stanton) Houck.

John attended Spring-Ford Schools and had been employed as a chef at many local restaurants. He was a 44 year member of the Royersford Fire Department, serving as Chief Engineer at the Humane Steam Fire Engine Company #1.

John was an avid bowler and enjoyed shooting pool. He enjoyed time spent at the Italian Club and family picnics, where he always insisted that he had to be the cook. He also enjoyed trips to the beach, walks, WWE and time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.

John is survived by his daughters, Shannon Houck, fiancé of Ben Allen, of Pottstown and Danielle Houck, fiancé of Michael Allen Jr., of Royersford; siblings, Donna McFarland, of Phoenixville, Henry, husband of Jackie Houck, of Sanatoga, Linda Bednarczyk, of Royersford, Estelle Houck, of Spring City and Nelson Houck, of Royersford; ten grandchildren, Corbin Allen, Austin Allen, Beverly Allen, Destiny Myers, Anthony Allen, Serenity Allen, Anastacia Houck, Victoria Houck, Bella Allen and Hope Allen; former wife, Doreen Post, of Limerick, and many nieces and nephews.

John was a father figure to his niece, Melinda Houck, of Spring City and his nephew, Richard Sr., husband of Brittany Hunter, of Limerick and a grandfather figure to her Melinda’s children, Sky Houck, Bailey Parker, Mason Parker and Kayleigh Garner and Richard’s children, Richard Jr., Nicolas Owen and Lillian Marie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend John’s funeral service on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA. Officiating will be the Rev. Jack A. Mason. Friends will be received from 9:30-11:00 am.
