John F. Jacobs, 65, husband of Jamie E. (Shillingford) Jacobs, of Pottstown, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 6, 2018. Born on August 6, 1952 in Montgomery, Alabama, he was a son of the late Ginette (Gimbault) and Col. Francis Jacobs.

As the proud son of an Air Force Colonel, John spent his early years moving around the country with his family. John's family eventually settled in McLean, Virginia where he attended McLean High School. He broke many state records running track. After he graduated he received his bachelors degree from Kings College in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, where he made lifelong friends to whom he continued close relationships.

After college, John served in the United States Marine Corps. He attended Naval Air Station (NAS) in Pensacola, FL graduating first in his class. He spent the next 16 years flying CH 53's. He loved flying and protecting our country. After marrying and starting a family, John put his military career behind him and concentrated on family life and his civilian career. He worked for 15 years at Shared Medical System in Malvern where he met Jamie. John worked at various companies till he started his own small IT company.

An avid golfer, John had been a 20 year member of the Spring-Ford Country Club where he was a member of the Greens Committee. He was a history buff and loved telling stories about his military days and spending time in Paris as a young boy. He loved Cape May, NJ and Hilton Head Island where decades of family vacations were spent. He was always involved in his children's activities whether acting as a Cub Scout Leader, daily trips to dance classes or playing golf. John was so proud of his sons and his beautiful daughter - his greatest accomplishments by far.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children: Ryan Jacobs and his fiance' Lindsay Blank, of Royersford, Leah M. Jacobs, of Pottstown and Christian F. Jacobs, of Pottstown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, on Friday, May 11, 2018. Friends will be received from 9:30 am - 11:00 am Friday at the funeral home, with service at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Deacon David Kubczak. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's name to the American Heart Association, 5455 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214.
