John A. Runyan, age 92, husband of Janet M. (Bertolet) Runyan, of Spring City, PA died Monday afternoon, January 7, 2013 in the Columbia Cottage Center, Collegeville, PA. Born in Schwenksville, PA, he was a son of the late Arthur Wesley and Sarah (Bergey) Runyan. A veteran, he served for the U.S. Army during World War II. While serving Mr. Runyan received five bronze stars and the purple heart. He worked for Jones Motor in Spring City for over 30 years before retiring in the early 1980's. Mr. Runyan was a devoted family man all of his life. He was known in Spring City as the "bike man" on Park Road.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years are three children: Barry L. Runyan, of Connecticut; Steven A., husband of Lisa (Loftus) Runyan, of Picture Rocks, PA; Nancy J., wife of Brian Short, of Audubon, PA; one sister: Elmeta Noel, of Chambersburg, PA; five grandchildren: Joshua, Tara, Ian, Brett, Alexis; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Runyan was pre-deceased by three siblings: Margaret, Martha, Arthur.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at the Limerick Garden of Memories, 44 Swamp Pike, Limerick, PA 19468 on Friday afternoon, January 11th, 2013 at 12:30PM.
