John M. Smoyer Sr., 77, husband of Janet L. (Robinson) Smoyer, of Royersford, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009, in his residence. Born in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Harold Smoyer and Mary (Gregory) Smoyer.
Mr. Smoyer was a 1950 graduate of Spring City High School, and served in the United States Army. He was employed as a refrigerator repairman for Nelson's Ice Cream, Inc., in Royersford, until his retirement. He was a also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Spring City.
Mr. Smoyer was very active in bowling leagues, bowling at the Friendship League, Phoenix Lanes, and Limerick Bowl. He was a past-president of the Spring-Ford Band Auxiliary. His greatest joy was being with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Smoyer is survived by his daughter, Pamela J., wife of Thomas A. Pletcher Sr., of Royersford, son, John M. Smoyer Jr, and wife Karen, of Gilbertsville, four grandchildren, Tom, Daniel, Kaitlyn, and Kara, great-grandson, Jayden, sisters, Mary Jane Haldeman, of Royersford, and Shirley Miller, of Limerick, step-mother, Cinderella Smoyer, of Royersford, step-sister Roberta Deisher, of Topton, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-brother, Lee Kerchner.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories.
