John J. Stubanas Sr., 83, husband of Josephine (Brower) Stubanas, of Royersford, passed away Friday evening, September 16, 2011, in the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late John O. and Elizabeth (McCabe) Stubanas.
Mr. Stubanas was a graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia and attended Temple University. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as a sales supervisor for Stroehmann Bakeries and most recently as a sales account representative for Time Warner. John was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather who loved traveling and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Mr. Stubanas is survived by three sons: John J. Jr. husband of Linda Stubanas of Spring City, and twin sons: James P. husband of Judith Stubanas of Raleigh, NC and Jeff husband of Noel Stubanas of Narberth; sister: Alice Kertes; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Jennifer; sister: Margaret Elliott; and brother: Donald Stubanas.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his memorial mass on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Walnut Street and Lewis Road, Royersford. Officiating will be the Rev. Anthony J. Costa. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in John's name to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, One Valley Square, Suite 133, 512 Township Line Road, Blue Bell, PA 19422.
