John Thomas Melvin Sr., age 78, loving Husband of 56 years to Dorothy "Maiden" Melvin passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Elizabeth "Hutton" and John Melvin.

John was a family man. A Husband, Father, Grandfather. Family was very important to him and his greatest joy. He took great pleasure from his children in all of their activities and education. He experienced that same pride through his grandchildren. John worked 30 years as a bus driver for SEPTA and was a proud member of Local 234 before retiring. John was an Umpire in the Philadelphia area where he often worked games with his son. He was a competitive athlete throughout his youth and enjoyed playing golf. John was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and, while he never played soccer, he became a soccer fan later in life. John enjoyed participating in the family fantasy football league and liked to call his opponent to say they "were going down" on a weekly basis. Although John had many interests and hobbies, his love and devotion to his wife was a constant in his life.

John is survived by his loving wife Dorothy "Maiden" Melvin, his children John Melvin Jr., husband of Dianne, Cindy Murphy, wife of Roger, Thomas Melvin, husband of Kathy, and his Grandchildren, John T. Melvin III,, Christopher Melvin, Camille Murphy, Roger Murphy, Thomas Melvin , and Ceceilia Melvin. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Elizabeth Melvin and his Granddaughter Rebecca Melvin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc, 610 Main Street, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 3:30 PM for a time of sharing.
