Joseph E. Burns, Jr. Age 77, husband of Janet R. (Petaccio) Burns, of Drums, PA, formerly of New Hanover Township, PA died Monday, November 16, 2015 in Mountaintop Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 2, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of Joseph E. Burns, Sr. and Agnes E. (Kelly) Burns. He received a masters degree in political science at St. John's University, New York. A veteran, he served for the U.S. Navy. Mr. Burns worked as the director of human resources at Safeguard Business Systems. He enjoyed playing in the bocce league and spending time with friends at Beech Mountain Lakes in Drums, PA. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Church in Drums, PA and formerly a member of the Church of St. Mary in Schwenksville, PA.

In addition to his wife of 46 years, Mr. Burns is survived by Two Daughters, Karen M., wife of Thorsten Woermann of Bonn, Germany, Jennifer L. Burns of Royersford, PA; Son, Steven M. Burns of Brooklyn, NY; Grandson, Daniel Joseph Burns of Hatfield, PA; Sister, Dorothy A, wife of the late John Tartar; Brother, Rev. Vincent Burns; and several Nieces and Nephews.

The visitation will be from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm Thursday evening at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA and on Friday morning from 10 am - 10:45 am at the Church of St. Mary, 40 Spring Mount Road, Schwenksville, PA. The funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11 am. Officiating will be Rev. Vincent Burns. Burial will be held in the Limerick Garden of Memories, Royersford, PA.
