Joseph Gallagher, age 86, husband of Barbara Gallagher, of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025. He was born on December 24, 1938, and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Joe, as he was affectionately known, was the beloved son of the late Julia (Conroy) and Patrick Gallagher. He was proud of his Irish heritage and warm upbringing.

Joe was a Class of 1956 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1960 graduate of Duquesne University. He dutifully served his country as a United States Marine. He then went on to earn his masters at Rutgers University before beginning a distinguished career in banking for over 40 years.

He took pleasure in many hobbies and activities: enjoying time on the golf course, being a voracious reader, riding his bike, and traveling locally and afar. He was a huge fan of all sports, especially baseball. He loved sharing his interests with others and modeling his love of learning.

His greatest pleasure was his family. He was an extraordinarily devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Joseph is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barabara Gallagher; son Christopher Gallagher and his wife Laura; daughter Cara Gallagher; son Andrew Gallagher and his wife Amy; daughter Lisa Gallagher; his sister Theresa and her husband Bill; and his two grandsons, Jack and Charlie.

Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral services at Mother of Divine Providence Church (located at 333 Allendale Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406), where he was a faithful parishioner for 30 years. Please join us at the church on Friday, February 28th at 9:30am for a visitation, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for any donations to be made in honor of one of his favorite pastimes to Tredyffrin Public Library.
