Joseph A. Iorio, age 77, husband of the late Patricia A. (Skiptunas) Iorio, of Fuquay-Varina, NC, formerly Wilkes-Barre, PA and Tampa, FL, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 23, 2016. Born on February 19, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, he was a son of the late Andrew and Eleanor (Lynch) Iorio.

Mr. Iorio was a 1957 graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and graduated from the Philadelphia Hospital School of Nursing for Men. He retired as a Colonel from the United States Army and was a veteran of both the Vietnam and Persian Gulf Wars. He worked as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown, PA and the Largo Medical Center in St. Petersburg, FL, retiring in 2013. A devoted family man, he loved spending quality time with his grandchildren and cooking for the entire family. He particularly enjoyed watching his grandchildren succeed in sports and all of their other activities. He loved baseball, basketball and football. He also was an accomplished singer and served as a youth basketball coach and a PIAA referee for many years. Mr. Iorio was a huge New York Yankees and Notre Dame Football fan.

Mr. Iorio is survived by four daughters, Stacy A., wife of Charles Manganiello of Tampa, FL, Piper A., wife of Eric Price of Royersford, PA, Jocelyn A., wife of Michael Ouvry of Fuquay Varina, NC, and Hilary A., wife of James Cochran of Gilbertsville, PA; and ten beloved grandchildren. Mr. Iorio was preceded in death by two brothers, Phil Iorio and Andrew Iorio Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Church, 256 Swamp Pike, Schwenksville, PA on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Paul C. Brandt. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 10:00 am - 10:45 am Thursday at the church.
