Joseph L. McMaster, age 74, husband of Jennifer A. (Bostian) McMaster of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at home. Born at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, DC on August 4, 1948, he was a son of the late Joseph D. and Dorothy G. (Thompson) McMaster.

Having a father that was career military, Mr. McMaster lived on multiple military bases all over the world until his family settled in Phoenixville when he was in junior high. He was a graduate of Phoenixville High School, and he went on to receive this bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's Univeristy. He worked in several local establishments as a restaurant manager, but most notably at Charlie Brown's in Paoli, PA. Following retirement, he began driving at-risk youth and court adjudicated youth to appointments, and he found surprising solace in the conversation and connections he formed with the kids.

In his younger years, he was an active member of the Phoenixville Jaycees, where he met many lifelong friends. These friends helped form his PGA friend group, and they enjoyed playing poker, golf, and taking family vacations together. Mr. McMaster was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, and he especially enjoyed watching and attending Phillies and college basketball games. His pond in the backyard gave him much joy, and at the same time aggravation. But, nevertheless, he enjoyed tending to it and spending time around it. He also had an ever expanding Christmas village train display that that gave him great pleasure to work on.

Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family, caring for them and taking trips with them, including the skiing trips to Colorado and New England.

In addition to his wife, Mr. McMaster is survived by four children, Mary Pat, wife of Shawn Elison, Stephanie McMaster, Sam McMaster. and Josh, husband of Nicole MacFarlane; five grandchildren, Kendal, McKayla, Autumn, Olivia and Rhian; four siblings, Pete, husband of Maureen McMaster, Jill Vontor, Kim, wife of Bob Ulisny, and Bronwyn McMaster; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Joan Mahoney.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., 610 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Young. Burial will be held privately. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM at the funeral home on Thursday morning.
