Joseph Osiol, age 85, husband of Edith M. (Schott) Osiol, of Mont Clare, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Donora, PA, he was a son of the late Michael and Apollonia (Zarnowski) Osiol.
Mr. Osiol was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army. He was with the 7th Infantry, 31st Regimental Combat team, which participated in the fight at the frozen Chosin Reservoir in late November 1950. Joe worked for the Alan Wood Steel Company in Conshohocken prior to working for and retiring from the James Spring Company in Malvern. He was a simple man with a friendly and generous nature to his personality. He was committed to his family and throughout his life would put their needs above his own. For years, his one personal enjoyment was the garden he developed; growing a wide variety of vegetable, which he shared with many people.
In addition to his wife, with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on December 22, 2014, he is survived by his children, Michael, husband of Carol Osiol of East Coventry, Teresa, wife of Joseph Pilny of Royersford, Patricia and Maureen Osiol at home, and Suzanne, wife of Craig Collins of Spring City; two sisters, Agnes Allshouse of Vero Beach, FL and Dolores Bernardo of Burbank, CA; six grandchildren, Erin (David) Cooper, Charie (Gabe) Marosfalvi , Adam (Sarah) Osiol, Scott Osiol, Ryan and Tyler Collins; and two great granddaughters, Kayla and Kristina Marosfavli. He was preceded in death by a son Charles, a brother Walter Osiol, and sisters Mary Thurner, Helen Frenzel, and Cecelia Vickery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at the St. Ann Chapel, 604 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Joseph Heim. Burial will follow in the St. Ann Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church from 8:30-9:45 AM.
