Joseph C. Poley, age 81, beloved husband of Linda M. (DePalma) Poley of Royersford, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in his residence. Born on May 9, 1942 in Drexel Hill, he was the son of the late Mary (Brennan) and Joseph C. Poley Sr.
A graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School, Drexel Hill, Joseph enlisted after graduation and served in Naval Reconnaissance during the Cold War. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Joseph was employed as an engineer at Verizon for 25 years until his retirement at the age of 49. While working, he attended college at night at St. Joseph's University. Not able to sit still during his retirement, Joseph owned A Cut Above Lawn Care, in Royersford, for 15 years.
Joseph had been a coach for all three of his children's sports teams and was a member of the National American Legion. He completed missions work and was a member of Valley Forge Baptist, where he volunteered for 20 years with Cornerstone Prison Ministry. In his later years, Joseph had become a simple man who dedicated his life to his family and Christ.
In addition to his loving wife of 53 years, Joseph is survived by his children: Dawn Rhodenbaugh, Brian Poley and Stephen (Dawn) Poley; and grandchildren: Christian, Jacob, Zachary, Sarah, Eric, Gabriella, Jocelyn and Madison.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Going Home Service at on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 am at Valley Forge Baptist, 616 S. Trappe Road, Collegeville. Officiating will be the Rev. Scott E. Wendal. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM at the Church. Interment will be held privately in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
