Joseph Patrick Smith, age 72, husband of Nora (Ferry) Smith, of Phoenixville, PA, formerly the Overbrook Park section of Philadelphia, passed away happily and peacefully in the Mercy of God on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at home. Born on March 8, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Finnegan) Smith.
Mr. Smith served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired as a police officer for the Philadelphia Police Department, and also worked for the Saint Joseph University Public Safety Office.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by five sons, Kevin, husband of Lindsay Smith, Sean, husband of Emily Smith, Daniel, husband of Jennifer Smith, Joseph Smith Jr., and James Smith; six grandchildren, Claire, Evelyn, Leah, Kellan, Nolan, and Carmella; and one brother, Edward, husband of Bridget Smith. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sister Joan Maureen, SSJ.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at the St. Ann Chapel, 604 South Main Street, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. John J. Newns. Burial will be held in the Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA Friends will be received from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm Wednesday, November 28 at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc, Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA or on Thursday morning, November 29 from 8:00 am - 10:45 am in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Sister's of Saint Joseph, Office of Development, 9701 Germantown Ave, Phila., PA 19118.
