Katherine H. Wetzel, 99, of Barclay Friends, West Chester, PA and formerly of Warwick, RI passed away on Thursday one day short of celebrating her 100th birthday. She was the wife of the late Herbert R. Wetzel.

She was born in Providence, R.I. to the late Michael and Nell (Miner) Hawkins. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. After raising her son, she worked as a legal secretary. While in Warwick, she was a member of St. Peter R.C. Church and was involved in various school and community groups.

She is survived by her son: Gerry H., husband of Beverly Wetzel, of Chester Springs; two grandchildren: Marissa Wetzel and Britton, husband of Jennifer Wetzel; three great-grandchildren: Ashleigh, Addison and Marley; one brother: Francis, widower of Marion Hawkins, of Cape Cod and Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother Thomas.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 26, 2009 at 10 AM at St. Luke R.C. Church, 108 Washington Rd., Barrington, R.I. 02806. Calling time is on Monday at the church from 9-10 AM. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Barclay Friends, 700 N. Franklin St., West Chester, PA 19380.
