Kathleen F. (Kurtas) Bauer, age 71, wife of Gary E. Bauer of Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025 in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by family. Born on June 6, 1954, in Pottstown, she was a daughter of the late Josephine A. "Josie" and James G. Kurtas.
Kathy was a longtime member of St. Clare's Catholic Church, now St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish. She was deeply devoted to her faith and served her church community in many roles over the years, most notably as a teacher's assistant at St. Eleanor's Elementary School in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. In addition, she worked as a school secretary at St. Peter's Church in Pottstown, now St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish. She spent the last several years serving as a school-van driver for children.
Together, Kathy and Gary raised three sons, devoting themselves fully to their upbringing and every aspect of their lives. Kathy committed her time and energy to her family, and she enjoyed creating cherished memories with her children and grandchildren, both at home, and at their shore house at Indian River Bay in Delaware. Kathy was present for many of her four grandchildren's school and sporting events, cheering them on from the sidelines. She was kind hearted and welcoming to all, whether it was family, friends or even kids in the neighborhood. Kathy strived to make sure everybody she encountered felt kindness and love.
In addition to her loving husband of 44 years, Kathy is survived by her sons: David K. Bauer and his wife Stephanie, Brian K. Bauer and his wife Christine, and Michael K. Bauer and his wife Carlyle; grandchildren: Hayley (11), Noah (10), Elliana (9), and Zoe (6); and siblings: Johanna (Stephen) Owsiany, Barbara (Michael) Brasher, and James (Kathleen) Kurtas.
