Kathryn H. (Karpinski) Rockey, 95, of Phoenixville PA, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Southampton, PA, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 28, 1923 in Phoenixville, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Karpinski, the loving wife of the late Stanley S. Rockey, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Kathryn lived her life to the fullest. She smiled, laughed, and enjoyed her very long life. She didn’t let anything hold her back, including Alzheimer's disease, which she struggled with for the last 11 years. She dedicated herself to her family’s happiness and to bringing them together, especially when it came to her pierogi Christmas Eve Extravaganzas! Nothing made her happier than her family gathered around the table to break the traditional Christmas oplatki, or to share in her halupkies at Easter time. Regardless of the occasion, Kay was known to initiate and lead a great “Stolat!” cheer and finish it off with an enthusiastic fist pump.
Kathryn attended Phoenixville high school. She worked for Acme Supermarket, the Pathway School, and Wyeth Laboratories. She enjoyed gardening, singing and dancing around the house, a great garage sale find, a competitive community bingo game, and spending quality time with her family often over a bowl of her homemade chicken noodle soup. She generously shared the fruits of her garden, delivering home grown tomatoes and blueberries to family and friends. Her endless amount of energy and strength amazed everyone. She will be missed by many.
Kathryn is survived by one daughter, Elaine (Bruce) Wyatt; and one son, George (Susanne Gerstenberger) Rockey; she is also survived by 8 grandchildren who she adored dearly , and 14 loving great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Stanley, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Otis; and her son-in-law, Mark Otis; Kathryn was also preceded in death by her 11 brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing for Kathryn on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 10 to 10:50 AM at the Sacred Heart Church, 148 Church St. Phoenixville PA, 19460. Mass will follow at 11 AM. Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fillmore St. Phoenixville PA. 19460.
