Keith Scammahorn, age 82, husband of Lynne M. (Koliander) Scammahorn of West Brandywine, Pennsylvania, formerly, Radnor, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023. Born on October 2, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Mary Ruth (McDonald) and James Scammahorn.

Keith spent his childhood in Fairfax, Virginia where he used to tie up his horse to the barber pole when he got haircuts. He served honorably in the United States Air Force from 1960-1964 and later went on to study electrical engineering. He had been employed as a television broadcast engineer for WHYY, NBC, and Tri-State Media until his 1996 retirement, earning three Emmy Awards for Technical Management. He had been responsible for cameras and other equipment for events all over the world. Retirement allowed Keith to slow down and enjoy time at home, but also volunteer his time in various ways.

Keith completed electrical work in the homes of low-income residents of Chester County through Good Works, a Christian ministry dedicated to helping local homeowners who have difficulty paying for household repairs and upgrades. He also utilized his electrical knowledge to convert cassette machines for Talking Books for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, changing over older machines to solid-state digital machines.

Keith served on the Youth Panel Advisory Board for Montgomery County, was an active member of the Valley Forge Optimists, served as Vice President of the Gulph Mills Civic Association and, served as financial warden and member of the Vestry for Washington Memorial Chapel.

In addition to his loving wife of 54 years, Keith is survived by his children: Jason T. Scammahorn and Caroline Scammahorn Weletz and her husband Rob; grandchildren: Julianna Rose Scammahorn and Callan Weletz; sister: Emmy Scammahorn; and brother-in-law: Raymond (Nancy) Koliander. He was preceded in death by a sister: Elaine (John) Stump.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at 10:00 am, at the Washington Memorial Chapel, 2000 Valley Forge Park Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406. Officiating will be Fr. Tommy Thompson. Interment will follow in the Washington Memorial Chapel Churchyard. Friends will be received from 9:00 - 9:45 am at the Chapel.
