Kelly A. Slater, age 23, of Brooklyn, New York, formerly of Gilbertsville, PA died suddenly on Saturday, January 28, 2017 in her home. Born on February 17, 1993 in Phoenixville, PA, she was a daughter of Peter and Joanne (Navarro) Slater. She was a 2011 graduate of Boyertown High School. Kelly was passionate in supporting animal rescues. She loved animals especially her 3 cats, Tyson, Ash and Adele. Kelly was a graduate of Temple University Honors Program and presently in the doctoral program at the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice on a scholarship. Kelly loved to read, as well as write herself, and had dreamed of publishing her own work someday. She participated in Temple University Diamond Scholar research program and traveled all over to present her research. She loved to travel and explore leading to her spend time in Italy, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. She had internships with the Norristown Police Department, as well as with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service in Georgia. Her last adventure was a road trip with her best friend seeing sites in Chicago, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia.
In addition to her parents of Gilbertsville, PA, Kelly is survived by Maternal Grandparents, Joanne & Julius Navarro of Leesburg, FL; Three Siblings, Erin E. Slater, Emily M. Slater, Victoria J. Slater, and many loving Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 2:30 pm. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm Friday at funeral home. Contributions may be made in her memory to any of the following charities that she supported; The Humane Society, The Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary Inc in North Carolina and / or the Boyertown Area School District Education Center, music and library fund, 911 Montgomery Avenue, Boyertown, PA 19512.
