Kenneth C. Weiler, age 67, husband of Gloria J. (Chilutti) Weiler, of Phoenixville, PA passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012 in Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late Edward C. Sr. and Janet (Nelson) Weiler.
Mr. Weiler was a member of Christ the King Deaf Church in West Chester, PA and active in the deaf community. He graduated Class of '69 Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., obtained a masters degree in '75 from Western Maryland College, now known as McDaniel College. He was a science and math teacher, specializing in deaf education for 30 years. He retired from the Philadelphia School District in 2010. Mr. Weiler also taught at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. He was a member of the Valley Forge Chapter of Trout Unlimited. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and was an accomplished trout fly fisherman.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Weiler is survived by one son, Jonathan C. Weiler of Glenside, PA; two step-sons, Francis J., husband of Stephanie Sposato of Phoenixville and Joseph J., husband of Annmarie Sposato, of Chesapeake, VA; one brother, Edward C. Weiler, Jr. of Silver Springs, MD; one granddaughter, Larissa C. Zeek-Weiler; six step-grandchildren, Erica, Dominic, Christina, Michael, Andrew, and Vincent Sposato.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., 610 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 PM. His funeral service will be held at Christ the King Deaf Church, 730 South New Street, West Chester, PA 19382 on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Officiating will be the Rev. Beth Lockard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 1620 Locust Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
