Kenneth R. "Sarge" Frymire, 81, husband of the late Helen J. (Burgess) Frymire, of Douglassville, formerly Pottstown, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2009, in the Sanatoga Center. Born in South Williamsport, he was a son of the late Dillman E. and Iva Marie (Jamison) Frymire.

Mr. Frymire was drafted into the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War. He then reenlisted in the United States Air Force for 18 years until his 1970 retirement as First Sergeant Master Sergeant at Whiteman Air Force Base.

Ken was a professional middleweight boxer from 1948-49, then was the head coach of the United States All-Stars Boxing Team of the Air Force in the United Kingdom from 1966-69. He also coached amateur boxers in Pottstown.

He retired from Dana Corp., and was a former member of the Parish of St. Columbkill in Boyertown. Ken was a member of the Pottstown VFW Post No. 780, the Holy Trinity Club, the Stowe Knights of Columbus Council 1192, 3rd Degree, and served on the first Auxiliary Police Force in Pottstown.

Mr. Frymire is survived by a daughter, Susan, wife of Claude Farrington Sr., of Douglassville, son, John E., husband of Geri Frymire, of Pottstown, three grandchildren, April Klotzbach and CJ and Nichole Farrington, and one great-granddaughter, Brynn Klotzbach. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth John Frymire.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, on Friday, November 6, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. John J. Newns. Interment will follow in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Pottstown. Friends will be received from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening and from 9:30-10:00 a.m. Friday morning.
