Lawrence E. Edwards, Jr., age 88, husband of Gladys M. (Stinson) Edwards, of Newmanstown, PA formerly of Elverson, PA died Tuesday evening, August 17, 2010 in the Reading Hospital, Reading, PA after a lengthy illness. Born in Jonesboro Tennessee, he was a son of the late Lawrence E. Edwards, Sr. and Bonnie (Bashore) Edwards. A veteran, he served for the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Edwards was self employed most of his life. He worked as a farmer, grew mushrooms and was a heavy equipment operator.

In addition to his wife of 67 years, Mr. Edwards is survived by five children; Lawrence E. Edwards, III, husband of Susan Edwards, of Mechanicsburg, PA, M. Joan, wife of Lenus Hostetter, of Newmanstown, PA, Carolyn I., wife of Atlee Rinehart, of East Coventry, Nancy M., wife of Stanley Yarmush, of Elverson, PA, John D., husband of Christine Edwards, of Sebring, FL, one sister; Sue Cully, of Maryland, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Edwards was pre-deceased by three brothers; David, Richard, Charles Edwards, one sisterl Mary Elizabeth Kauffman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Ebenezer Bible Chapel, 289 Warwick Furnace Drive, Elverson, PA 19520 on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 11:00AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Deane E. Boyd. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00-10:45AM Monday morning at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the Ebenezer Bible Church at the above address.
