Lawrence S. Evans, age 59, of Phoenixville, PA died Friday afternoon, October 23, 2009 in the Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville, PA of complications from pneumonia. Born in Delaware County, he was a son of the late John P. and Anne (Shields) Evans. He spent much of his life in Glen Mills and Downingtown and ultimately settled in the Kimberton area in 1987.
Mr. Evans worked for many years as a customer service attendant for the Kimberton Genuardi's, and as boxmaker at Rocco's Pizza in Kimberton and The Franco Ristorante in Phoenixville. Mr. Evans previously worked for the Seven Stars Farm and the Kimberton Waldorf School.
Mr. Evans led an active life in the community, and he was an avid bowler and a green belt in karate. He had been involved in Orion Communities for over 20 years. He also volunteered for several years at the Kimberton Community Supported Agriculture garden.
Mr. Evans is survived by Two Sisters: Mildred Benedict, Betty Kneib; Three Brothers: John Evans, Joseph Evans, Tom Evans, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Six Brothers and Sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Campbell - Ennis - Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA Tuesday morning, October 27, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Milton E. Detterline. Burial will be in the Media Cemetery.
