Lawrence R. Jacobson, 64, of Oakdale, NY, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009, in the Coatesville VA Medical Center, Coatesville, PA. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late James "Jake" and Frances (Shea) Jacobson.

Mr. Jacobson served in the United States Army in the USAR Control Group Reinforcement as a SP4 during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a master printer and was a member of the American Legion Joseph Kovarik Post No. 1146.

He was an avid football and baseball player in his youth and continued to play softball as an adult. He enjoyed fishing and the water. A man filled with humor, he was generous and touched many lives. He was a loving father, grandfather, and uncle who was loved and adored by his son, grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jacobson loved the New York Mets. He idolized Gil Hodges, the ex player of the Brooklyn Dodgers who managed the NY Mets to the 1969 World Series. Whenever Mr. Jacobson played sports, he was sure to wear Gil's #14.

Mr. Jacobson is survived by his son, Lawrence B., husband of Lisa-Marie Jacobson, of Nesconset, NY, brother, Robert Jacobson and two grand-daughters, Mariella and Kaitlyn. He was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Kuron.
