Lena Christel Crain, aged 74, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024. Born in Stockholm, Sweden, she was the beloved wife of the late Albert R. Crain and daughter of the late Ulla-Lena (Hise) and Lars Önne.

Christel lived a life marked by passion, loyalty, and dedication but above all, she cherished her time with her family, friends and her dogs. Christel and Albert met in Italy and married in Stockholm in 1978 before relocating to the United States where they joyfully welcomed their daughter, Clarissa.

Throughout her career as a Veterinary Technician, Christel was committed to helping pet owners understand and meet the needs of their pets, thereby strengthening the bond between them. She was also an avid and accomplished dog trainer and an active member of the Flat-Coated Retriever Society of America, the Carlisle Dog Training Club, and several other training organizations. Her love for music, ballet, and international travel was profound, and she took great joy in sharing her rich Swedish heritage with her friends and family. In her later years, she relished the time spent with her grandsons, exploring the natural world.

Christel is survived by her daughter, Clarissa Crain-Pugh, wife of Tom Pugh; her adored grandchildren, Anderson Pugh and Owen Pugh; her sister Boel Önne; and her brother Staffan (Karina) Önne. Additionally, she leaves behind a large extended family and numerous friends whom she considered as family.

Christel will be deeply missed by all who knew her, remembered for her vibrant spirit and enduring love for her family and friends.

Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Christel's life to be held on July 19th at Tatiana's Restaurant in Mechanicsburg, starting at 11:30AM with lunch at 12PM. Burial will take place at a later date in Stockholm, Sweden.
