Obituary

Lila A. (Bietz) Smith, age 74, wife of William E. Smith, of Chester Springs, PA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at home surrounded by family under the care of Main Line Hospice. Born in Clearfield, PA, she was a daughter of Luther and Malista (Haag) Bietz.

Mrs. Smith was a graduate of the Curwensville High School and West Chester University, and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Chester Springs. She was involved with the Salvation Army, and was part of the Goose Group, which donated, packaged, and sent care packages to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Mrs. Smith was previously the Chairwoman of the West Pikeland Historical Society and of the Outreach Society at her church, and was on the Women's Auxiliary of the Williamson Trade School. Mrs. Smith was an avid crafter, canner, and reader. She retired as an educator, but continued a lifetime of teaching.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Erle, husband of Amanda Smith of Millersville and Brian Smith of Chester Springs; granddaughter Sadie Smith and "adopted" granddaughter Alessia Buoso; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1239 Clover Mill Road, Chester Springs, PA 19425 on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Ronald P. Wesemann. Burial will take place privately. Friends will be received at the church from 9:30-10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the St. Peter's Lutheran Church at the above address, or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Arrangements are being handled by the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville, PA.
