Linda Latsko Castenova's Obituary
Dr. Linda Latsko Castenova, 56, wife of Cordell Castenova, of Valley Forge, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2011, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Nanticoke, PA, she was the daughter of John A. Latsko of Phoenixville and the late Mary Eva (Sharkuski) Latsko.
Dr. Castenova was a 1971 graduate of Phoenixville High School and received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Penn State University. She then received her Masters' of Education Graduate Study of Counseling in 1980 and a Master's Degree of Educational Specialist Attainment in Graduate Study in School Psychology in 1981, both from Lehigh University. Most recently, Linda received her Doctorate in School Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008. She was a member of the American Psychological Association.
Linda was employed as a school psychologist for the West Chester Area School District and was a member of St. Ann Church in Phoenixville. In the 70's and 80's she was a lifeguard at the Spring Ford County Club and was a former youth basketball coach at the Phoenixville YMCA. She was also a swimming referee for the PIAA for over 25 years.
In addition to her father and husband of 18 years, Dr. Castenova is survived by her brother: Eugene husband of Claire Latsko of Audubon; stepson: Daniel C. Olson of Phoenix, AZ; nephew: Michael Latsko, of Harleysville; and cousin: Sharon (Mangan) Mayernick, of Dallas, PA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at St. Ann Church, Main Street at Third Avenue, Phoenixville, on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. John J. Newns officiating. Interment will follow in the Philadelphia Memorial Park. Friends will be received from 7:00-8:30 Monday evening at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville and from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Church. Memorial gifts may be made in Linda's name to the Pennsylvania SPCA, 350 E. Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134. Condolences may be offered online at www.PhoenixvilleFuneralHome.com.
