Obituary

Lois Ann (Moon) Duncan, age 74, of Royersford, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Born on January 24, 1952, in Bowersville, OH, she was a daughter of the late Naomi (Thornton) and Marion Moon.

Lois lived a life defined by unwavering faith, humility, and service to others. She was a lifelong follower of Jesus and believed deeply in the power of prayer. She began each day in reflection on God's word and was active in multiple prayer groups. She was a warm and constant presence at her church home, the Royersford Church of the Nazarene, where she was a member of the Church Board. She frequently performed acts of service with complete anonymity, such as paying to fix someone's car or buying groceries. She never wanted recognition. To her, the value was in serving her Lord through helping others.

Raised on an Ohio farm, Lois learned the value of hard work early on, and her work ethic would become a cornerstone of her life. She was extremely independent and could do just about anything - sewing, quilting, gardening, upholstery, building furniture, changing her own oil, and anything else she put her mind to.

Moving from small-town life to New York City, where she would live for four decades, was at first a drastic change for Lois, but she built a community for herself through the church, forging a lifelong friendship with her prayer partners, Donna Burke and LaDawna Harrington.

Lois was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family fiercely. She loved to garden and decorate, making every house a beautiful, inviting and comfortable space to call home. Later in life, with her son David and his family, she discovered a love of boating and treasured the times she spent on the water with her loved ones.

Lois was also an inveterate prankster. Holidays and family gatherings were always filled with laughter and recurring jokes, delicious meals, and far too much sugar. Some of her favorite times were family holidays - whether with her siblings and loved ones at the Ohio farm, or later with her children and grandchildren.

More than anything else, Lois sought joy in every situation. Even as her health declined, her motto was always "I can't complain." She loved her God and saw the blessings that He had bestowed upon her. She would want all who knew her and enjoyed her warm and steadfast presence to know her strength came from Jesus, who she believed was God's son who came from heaven to live as a man, and gave his sinless life on a cross to take on the sins of the world and reconcile God's children to himself; that any who want to experience the love of God as she did simply need to believe as she did and ask Jesus to come into their hearts and transform them.

Lois is survived by her children: Christy, wife of Matthew Snyder, Brian, husband of Sarah Duncan, David, husband of Lisa Duncan, and Ben, husband of Sarah Elk; grandchildren: Allison, Kieran, Aubrey, Emily, Abigail, and Nathaniel; and siblings: Wanda Baker and Ken Moon.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Royersford Church of the Nazarene, 445 Washington Street, Royersford (https://www.google.com/maps/search/445+Washington+Street,+Royersford?entry=gmail&source=g), on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Pastor Crystal Golighty. Friends will be received from 10:30 AM-11:00 AM at the Church.
