Louis A. Viola, Sr., age 84, husband of the late Faye L. (Sheeler) Viola, of Royersford, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022 in Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest. Born on July 8, 1938 in Phoenixville, he was one of nine children born to the late Elizabeth (Cutillo) and Albert Viola.
Lou honorably served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. He had been employed for 35 years, enjoying his job, at Dana Corporation in Pottstown, until his early retirement at the age of 59.
Lou loved shooting pool and played at the level of a professional. He was an avid reader of the daily paper and enjoyed working on the crossword puzzles. He also loved trips to the casinos with his brothers and sisters, riding around his yard on his lawn mower, watching football and going to watch high school state and college wrestling matches. Friends and family were Lou's priority, as he enjoyed dinners with his buddy eating spaghetti and pizza, breakfast with his siblings every Friday and for the last several years, taking care of his wife.
Mr. Viola is survived by three children: Louis A. Viola, Jr., of Royersford, Deanna L. Herzog, of Spring City and Timothy P. Viola, of Collegeville; five grandchildren: Chelsea, Jenna, Kara, Caterina and Marissa; twelve great-grandchildren; and siblings: Joey Viola, Ann Gnias and Jimmy Viola. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Ralph Sheeler Viola; two grandchildren: Anthony and Samantha Viola, and five siblings: Domenick Viola, Martha Viscuso, Albert Viola, Caroline Cannon and Theresa Montalbano.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at Sacred Heart Church, Walnut Street and Lewis Road, Royersford, on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be the Rev. Tadeusz Gorka. Interment will follow in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Pottstown. Friends will be received from 9:00 am - 10:15 am at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford.
