Margaret G. "Peg" Kelly-Macdonald, age 96, wife of the late Bernard J. Kelly and the late John R. Macdonald, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022 in the Sunrise of Paoli Assisted Living Center. Born on September 6, 1925 in Centreville, MD, she was a daughter of the late A. Sydney and Ruth (Branner) Gadd.

Peg was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College, and she worked as a phlebotomist at SmithKline Beecham and Phoenixville Hospital for many years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Phoenixville, where she was active in the Ladies' Auxiliary. After attending Villanova University to study Library Sciences, she also was instrumental in the founding of the library at St. Mary's School.

Her life revolved around her service to the Phoenixville community. Peg served as Past President of the Soroptomist Club of Phoenixville and Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Phoenixville, where she also received lifetime membership. She was an active volunteer of the Phoenixville Hospital Auxiliary and the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation. Peg sat on the board of the Phoenixville Senior Center, PACS, and the Phoenixville Library.

Although she didn't do it for the recognition, throughout the years she received several awards for her volunteerism efforts, including the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian of the Year Award and the Phoenixville Mayor's Citizens Recognition Award.

Spending time with her family and friends brought her the greatest joy. She was the den mother of her son's Boy Scout troop, and her time as the troop leader for her daughter's Girl Scout troop lead to her acting as the cookie chairperson of the Phoenixville area. She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, and enjoyed playing bingo.

She is survived by five children, Meg, wife of Charles Houseworth of Wake Forest, NC, Brian F., husband of Joanne Kelly of Bath, ME, Carole K., wife of Joseph Ritzheimer of Norristown, PA, Sean T., husband of Lisa Kelly of Phoenixville, PA, and Ellen, wife of Michael Weaver of Spring City, PA; one step-son, Donald, husband of Dianne Macdonald of Emmaus, PA; one sister, Janet Doehler of Centreville, MD; sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, two step-grandsons and four step great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Anne Hennighausen.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, 212 Dayton Street, Phoenixville, PA on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 10:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. John Hutter and Rev. Charles O'Hara. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will take place on Wednesday evening, September 7, 2022 from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm in the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., 610 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA and again on Thursday morning from 8:30 am - 9:45 am in the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Phoenixville Area Community Services (PACS), 101 Buchanan Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
