Marianne G. Schindler died on March 7, 2009 at age 73 after a nine year courageous, coexistence with ovarian cancer.

She was encircled by family and many beloved art objects in her home at Kendal Crosslands and died in peace and calm slowly slipping away into the final sleep.

She is survived by her husband Peter D. Schindler M.D., son Thomas K. Schindler his wife Tracy and their children Devon and Trent, and daughter Claudia Schindler Callahan her husband Patrick and their twin girls Finley and Riley, as well as her brother Uldrich Leber.

Marianne was a mother to all and an enriching grandmother. As a ceramics teacher at the Westown School her abilities with hands, mind and heart brought clay to life and to the lives of generations of students some of whom expanded this experience to a career in ceramics.

Marianne was born in Switzerland and came to America with her husband in 1960. They soon settled in Chester County, raised their children in a historic farmhouse along the Pocopson creek benefiting from the then rural sights and sounds of nature and creek.

There will be a service in the Meeting House of the Westtown School on March 21st at 2:00 P.M. and a reception will follow in the Art Center.
