Obituary

Mark Carroll Spangler passed away peacefully in his home in Phoenixville, PA on June 8, 2022. He was 68. His wife and children were all with him that day.

He was known to be a man of his word, who worked hard, and feared God.

Mark was the son of George Martin Spangler and Ruth R. (Waclholz) Spangler. He was born on February 8, 1954. Mark was preceded in death by his younger brother, Craig Spangler.

Raised in Collegeville and Limerick PA, Mark graduated from Ursinus College with a BA degree in Economics. He later earned his CPCU designation for insurance.

Mark and his wife, Bonnie Joan (Matt) Spangler met at their first job out of college. They married in 1978, and married for 43 years. They had three children, Daniel William, Elizabeth Joy, and Lauren Hope. As time went on, he was greatly blessed with grandchildren. With Lauren Spangler and George Mullen, he had five blessings: Aubrey, Carleigh, Celsey, Carter, and Vincent. With Elizabeth (Spangler) Ifill and Adam Ifill he was blessed with Jacob Ifill. Being a granddad was one of his greatest joys.

Mark was a conscientious provider for his family. Besides earlier positions, he worked at Towers Perrin, later to become JLT, for 37 years. He retired in 2018, and did consulting work the following year.

Throughout his life, Mark quietly blessed people. He enjoyed history, collecting antique bottles, landscaping, hiking, travel, snorkeling, and loving his wife and family.
