Martin J. Anthony, 78, of Stowe, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2009, in the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Norristown, he was a son of the late Martin and Mary (Lenhart) Anthony.
Mr. Anthony was a graduate of Norristown High School. He served in the 40th Infantry Division with the 143rd Artillery Battalion in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Pop Marty's life passion was cooking, whether it was at home for family or for work. He was a chef for many area restaurants over the years and retired from the former The Next Door Restaurant in Limerick. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, model building, and visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Anthony is survived by three daughters, Theresa Carter, of King of Prussia, Regina, wife of William Carter, of Pottstown, and Christina Anthony, of Royersford, four sons, Mark, husband of Lori Anthony, of Spring City, Matthew Anthony, fianc?e of Michele Smith, of Stowe, Brian, husband of Sherry Anthony, of Coopersburg, and Gregory, husband of Angela Anthony, of Gilbertsville, two sisters, Margaret DeSante, of Conshohocken, and Mary Lou Petko, of Eagleville, brother Robert Anthony, of Norristown, twenty grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Newton, and brother, Richard Anthony.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, on Monday, August 3, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Randy Johnson. Interment will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends will be received from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
