Mary Carmel (Corr) Dean, age 82, wife of David W. Dean, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2024 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on November 26, 1941, in Dublin, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Mary K. (Denny) and Henry Corr.
Carmel had been a professional seamstress, receiving her training in Ireland, England, and other European countries. She operated her own drapery workroom out of the basement of her home for a number of years. She created fabric samples for major companies out of all materials, including leather. In addition, she worked with many interior designers on drapery designs.
Carmel was an accomplished knitter and crocheter, often creating beautiful things. She was also an accomplished designer, having created many wedding dresses, including a gown that she and three of her sisters wore for their wedding days. She was always dressed so elegantly; always dressed to the nines.
In her spare time, Carmel was an avid dog lover, who had a special love for her dogs; she also enjoyed playing the piano.
In addition to her loving husband of 56 years, Carmel is survived by her son: Paul R., husband of Donna Dean; granddaughter: Rachel Casalenuovo: great-grandson: Zachary Casalenuovo; siblings: Patrick Corr, Angela Sterio, and Kay Doyle; and sister-in-law: Linda Dean. She was preceded in death by siblings: Peggy, Teresa, Alice, and Edward; and sister-in-law: Sally Dean.
A memorial service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
