Mary Elizabeth Donahower died on July 17, 2016, surrounded by her family, after being ill with breast cancer. She was 92. Until quite recently, Mary often could be found tending the lawn and garden of the beloved Spring City home in which she was born to Howard and Grace Lippincott in 1924, baking one of her signature pies or breakfast cakes for a church function, or maintaining a regular correspondence with friends and family near and far. For 74 years, she was a devoted member of Parkerford Baptist Church, where she served as sunday school treasurer for almost as many years. Mary was proud to have been along with Doris O'Connor a charter member of the local American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary in 1948. After graduating high school in 1942, Mary held positions of employment at Royersford Needleworks, in switchboard operation and billing; at Synthane, in accounts receivable; and at Batchelor's Greenhouses. Mary generally was happiest at home but enjoyed trips to Yellowstone National Park in 1955 and to Malcolm Lake in Ontario, Canada, on several occasions.
Mary is predeceased by her husband, William F. Donahower III, and her daughter, Mary Beth Donahower. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William F. Donahower IV and Pamela Donahower; and grandchildren, April Donahower (Alexander Perdue), William F. Donahower V, and William B. Miller III.
