Mary Jean (Keen) Foresta, 93, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 1, 2022. She was the wife of the late Vincent J. "Jack" Foresta, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2020. Born on November 16, 1928 in Spring City, PA, she was a daughter of the late E. Roy and Jennie B. (Stauffer) Keen.
Mrs. Foresta was a graduate of Spring City High School, and attended Beauty School in Philadelphia. Along with her sister Pauline, she operated a beauty salon in Spring City for several years. In 1973, she and her husband Jack opened Foresta's Market at it's present location on West Bridge Street in Phoenixville.
Mary Jean was active in the community, serving as Past President of the Phoenixville Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the hospital bowling league. She also was a member of the Junior Women's Club of Phoenixville and the First United Church of Christ in Spring City.
Along with her husband, Mary Jean enjoyed spending time at their home in Avalon, NJ for over 40 years. They spent several winters in Florida at Island Dunes, where as an avid golfer, she was the 9 Hole Club Champion in 2006.
As a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mary Jean loved spending time with, and following the lives of, her family.
Mrs. Foresta is survived by three children, Jean Ann Saville of King of Prussia, PA, J. Scott, husband of Cathy Foresta of East Pikeland, and Jennifer K. Foresta, wife of Kevin Sterritt of East Pikeland; six grandchildren, Bradley, husband of Kelli Saville, Kelly, wife of Michael Kilian, J. Christian, husband of Ashley Foresta, Mark, husband of Brittany Foresta, Jacy Sterritt, and Geena Sterritt; eight great-grandchildren, Laurel, Corinne and Mila Kilian, Chase Saville, Josephine, Jase, Jackson and Jude Foresta; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace (Keen) Yeager and Pauline (Keen) Hughes.
Funeral services and burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary Jean's name to a charity of your choice.
