Mary Ellen (Terry) Little, 76, of St Matthews Rd, Kimberton, passed away Wednesday morning March 31, 2010 in hospice care at the Phoenixville Hospital. Mary spent many enjoyable years as a teacher. She started her career in the Anne Arundel School District in Odenton, MD and later taught in the Department of Defense Schools in France. She was an elementary school teacher for the Phoenixville Area School District from 1964 to 1993 first at Mason Street School and then at Barkley School. Mary Little started the Junior Girl Scout Troop at Mason Street School. After retirement, Mary remained active with various organizations including driving for Meals on Wheels, on the Board of the Community Visiting Nurses Hospice, at the Phoenixville Hospital "Bookworm" and the Phoenixville Library. She was also active with the First United Methodist Church of Phoenixville.

Born in Jackson, Kentucky, Mary was the daughter of the late Elmer and Omeda (Hadden) Terry. Mary graduated from Jackson City High School in 1949 and the University of Kentucky in 1953. Marrying her childhood sweetheart, Hubert Little, in 1953, Mary transitioned to being an Army wife. Hubert and Mary started a family and were stationed at Camp Pickett, VA, Fort Meade, MD, Camp Losey and Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, Walter Reed Army Hospital, MD, Croix-Chapeau, France and lastly Valley Forge Army Hospital in Phoenixville.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Little, wife of John Lloyd of Yardley, and Terry Jo Muhlenberg, wife of Barry of Pottstown, brothers Dr Charles Terry and wife Brenda of Irvine, KY and Rev James Terry and wife Vickie of Lawrenceburg, KY and sister Christine Wright and husband Bill of Richmond, KY and several nieces and nephews and their families. Grandchildren include Lt(jg) Kai Muhlenberg USN of Lemoore, CA, Eric Muhlenberg of Wilmington and Jane Lloyd of Yardley. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Betty.

Friends are invited to a funeral service on Monday, April 5th, at 11:30 at the First United Methodist Church, 865 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 with Pastor Amy Smith presiding. Viewing will be from 10-11:15. Interment will be next to her husband, Hubert, at Arlington National Cemetery, VA.
